Teeth Whitening
Everyone wants a bright, white smile, and today there are many teeth whitening options. Stains on our teeth are caused by a number of substances: wine, coffee, nicotine, cola, certain prescription medications, and many types of food. The surface of the tooth enamel often erodes and cracks over the years, which causes stains to build up on the tartar and plaque on the teeth and cause yellowing. When it comes to whitening, you have three choices: an at-home over-the-counter kit, a take-home whitening kit from your dentist, or an in-office whitening procedure.
All at-home kits are peroxide based, and can help lift mild stains and discolouration off your teeth, but you won't get the same dramatic results that you will at the dentist. At-home kits may be whitening strips that you stick over your teeth, or trays that you fill with gel and bite down on.
