Workplace Fitness
The benefits of fitness in the workplace are tremendous. Fit employees are less likely to get sick and have more energy compared to unfit employees. This results in reduced absenteeism and increased productivity, not to mention lower health care expenses. But, its success depends on how the program is implemented and managed. The Canadian Life Assurance Company found that turnover among fitness program participants was 32.4% lower over a seven-year period compared with non-participants. Furthermore, a recent survey in the U.S. shows that workers who participated in some form of exercise missed 40% fewer workdays than non-participants.
